The Olympics are almost over. It’s been pretty exciting watching these talented super-humans give it their all at London 2012. Looking at Olympic athletes, we can instantly see they have a mental focus and mental toughness that few of us possess.
Athletes are mentored to help them develop the skills needed for success.
Even if you’re not going for gold at the Olympic Games, let’s look at how you can Train Your Mind like an Olympic athlete.
Whether you’re preparing for the Olympics or building a successful business, it all begins with training your mind. Remember that your mind is actually more powerful than your body is. Here are some #6 tips to get you on the road to success through mental focus and fortitude.
1. Practice Meditation
Meditation is a key tool used by Olympic athletes, and it is one you should become familiar with. You can use the same type of mental concentration to enhance your performance that individual athletes use.
Meditation calms the mind and allows you to focus on what’s really important. It helps you to eliminate the unnecessary chatter in your mind and attack the task at hand, whether that’s to win your race or make your business a success.
2. Keep Visualizing
This powerful tool should be used by all who want to be successful. Athletes use visualization to improve their performance. Visualization includes picturing and reliving every step, move, jump etc.
If you want to build a successful business then you need to visualize every step from the creation of your business, to the opening of your doors to your customers, to your sales.
Visualize it over and over – make it real, make it happen.
3. Stay Motivated
You need to be able to keep yourself mentally motivated. You need to keep your big goal in mind to help stay motivated. There are going to be days when you want to hide under the duvet.
Those are the days you need to “dangle the carrot in front of you,” by focusing on where it is you want to be.
4. Less Is More
Our minds tend to complicate things and we often end up taking the longest, most difficult route to get where we want to go. Instead, remember less is more.
Stop yourself, reconsider the path you’ve created, check to see if there is any way that you can streamline your approach, and simplify things.
5. Read More Books
Why not learn from the success of others? There are books on the market for just about every subject you can think of. Whether you want to become a better weight lifter or you want to create a successful business, read books, get ideas, and emulate what has worked for others.
If you want to get better and do better than turn to your library or bookstore.
6. Don’t Do It Alone
Olympic athletes don’t do it alone. They don’t come up with all the ideas and strategies to do better, go faster, or become stronger on their own. They work with a team, which includes plenty of talking and mental strategizing.
That’s the same way you’ll grow a successful business – by incorporating good ideas that others have.
There you have it – if you want to train your mind like an Olympic athlete, use these six great tips.
