If you are thinking about doing what you love, don’t leave it too long – please.
While I believe that age is no barrier to success, it’s easy to get caught up with busy-ness, fire fighting and putting things off.
You tell yourself you’ll get round to doing all those amazing things on your bucket list “some day” but invariably that day never comes.
You vow to spend more time with friends and loved ones but life gets in the way.
The days turn into weeks, weeks into months, months into years and before you know it a decade (or two) has flown past.
It’s all too easy to take life – and living – for granted.
You think you will always have tomorrow, but we all know that’s not the case.
Often it takes a health scare, a bereavement or some disaster in the world to shake us up and make us realize how fragile life is.
I had a moment like this last week.
Don’t worry it wasn’t anything sad, or bad.
In fact, it was a beautiful short time-lapse video that brought home to me the importance of really living every day as if it were your last.
I’ve shared it below and am keeping this week’s blog post short and sweet because I’d love to hear your thoughts on living life full out.
Without giving too much away, the video depicts the various stages of a woman’s’ life.
It reminded me of one of my all-time favorite movies, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, which I highly recommend you see if you haven’t done so already.
The video is only short so take a few minutes to watch it now.
I don’t know about you, but I was mesmerized by the skill of the artist in capturing the life of a woman in paintings from birth to death. The expression in the woman’s eyes and the music are particularly touching.
More importantly though, the video got me thinking about my life.
Living Moment To Moment
Not in a morbid way but with hope and gratitude.
Mae West said, “You only live once, but if you do it right, once is enough.”
This quote is a perfect companion to the video because it reminds us about the importance of appreciating our lives and what we have right now.
In your striving towards your goals, do you acknowledge that you already have a lot?
You are alive after all.
You have your body, your breath, your vital organs and your senses keeping everything functioning as it should.
You have the power of thought and a boundless connection to spirit, God, the Universe – or whatever you call that force in your life.
That’s a big deal – much more than money, success and achievements can ever bring you.
Life is precious and we are all here for such a brief moment.
Time passes so quickly.
It seems just like yesterday that I was going to school, living abroad, falling in love, starting my job.
Even though I remember everything vividly, those moments are now gone and have become memories.
Have there been challenges along the way?
But there have also been plenty of highs, magical times and unforgettable moments filled with love and laughter.
Both sets of experiences have shaped the person I am today so I embrace them all.
No matter what is happening, life is good.
I constantly remind myself of this fact and it’s the same for you.
No matter how old you are, or whatever you’re going through, it’s never too late to start living – and loving – your life.
You are special and matter more than you will ever know.
There is more to you than you can imagine.
Life is not random and like everything else on the planet you are here for a reason.
So don’t waste a single moment.
Cherish your life and the people in it.
